Nurse Residency Program Goals

01

Encourage commitment to lifelong learning by promoting an optimal learning environment that serves as the foundation for the Nurse Residency Program.

02

Teach evidence-based practices that support Nurse Residents to provide compassionate, efficient, and quality individualized patient care.

03

Develop opportunities to promote confidence in our Nurse Residents, to strengthen inter-professional communication and practice at the top of their nursing license.

04

Review and evaluate quality outcomes to strive for improved scores as it relates to nurse-sensitive clinical indicators, recruitment and retention, satisfaction scores, and clinical outcomes.

How Our Nurse Residency Program at CharterCARE Works

Upon completion of a hospital and nursing orientation, newly hired grad nurses enter a unit-specific orientation, guided by an experienced preceptor. The new grad meets weekly with a nurse educator and their preceptor to review progress, identify any needs, and provide feedback.

We believe that this supportive, positive approach will help reduce new nurses’ anxiety, increase self-confidence to become progressively more independent and successfully adjusted to their new role as a registered nurse.

Who Qualifies for the CharterCARE Nurse Residency Program

Our Nurse Residency program is available to currently licensed nurses with 12 months or less of nursing experience, who have been hired at CharterCARE and who have successfully completed our hospital nursing orientations.
