CharterCARE Health of RI today announced that it is the first health provider in Rhode Island to use the groundbreaking Galaxy System for the early diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. Residents of Greater Providence and surrounding areas now have access to a cutting-edge new Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy platform that enables earlier diagnosis of lung cancer, as well as providing surgeons with precise locations of lung cancer tumors to achieve successful surgical intervention.
Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in the United States and the leading cause of cancer deaths in the country. But today, it can be difficult for physicians to properly find and biopsy lung nodules, delaying diagnosis and complicating treatment.
Noah Medical’s Galaxy System is designed in collaboration with physicians to improve lung cancer diagnosis. It is a state-of-the-art Robotic-Assisted Bronchoscopy platform that enables physicians to navigate to and locate lung nodules with greater precision and accuracy than current platforms. The Galaxy System enables precision targeting for greater confidence in tool-in-lesion confirmation, leading to improved diagnostic success. In a study of 100 patients treated at Cleveland Clinic, it demonstrated a 90% strict diagnostic yield.
Roger Williams Medical Center’s clinical team of Dr. Rabih El-Bizri, Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Dr. Mohammad Abdallat, Thoracic Surgeon, and Dr. Leandro Ramirez, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, successfully completed the first cases using the Galaxy system.
